Just because some of them are moody and rude doesn't mean you can't assist the rest... Even the mean ones are still just people.

These two instances happened a few weeks ago. My friend's recent responses to what I did, pissed me off and sparked this rant.

Instance #1.
A man in a wheel chair was leaving the post office as I was going in. He hadn't quite gotten to the door yet and had a whole bunch of stuff. There are no "Disabled" buttons for the door as you leave the building.
I, having been raised that a person is a person is a person... blah blah blah, opened the door saying, "Oh, let me get this for ya'."
The look on his face was of utter amazement and gratitude. He rolled out and said, "Thank you very much." I responded with, "You're very welcome. Have a great day!" He smiled and went on his way.

Instance #2.
A very tall, black man with dreadlocks was leaving the post office as I walked up to enter the building. We were going slightly different paces. I opened the door because I got there first and looked at him with a huge smile. He paused and gave me a look of confusion.
I kept smiling and said, "Go ahead. I got to it first and you have mail in your hand." He had the biggest smile I've ever seen on a man of his height (which is really tall). Then he bashfully said "Thank you. Have a nice day." I said, "Thanks! You too!"

My friend's responses...
#1. "You aren't supposed to do that. They're perfectly capable of it, just like everyone else. Just ask one of them."
One of them? You mean disabled people? Emphasis on People. Don't help people? It doesn't matter who they are if they obviously need an extra hand. They are PEOPLE!

#2. "You didn't? They don't like handouts. They are just as good as anyone else you know."
Yeah, and they are good enough to open a door for. I don't care who it is. It's polite. You can go screw yourself!

Let's read a story... A long, agonizing story! Then we'll break things... out of frustration... :)

Problems:
#1. The Leading Male Character (we'll call him Ed)
#2. Leading Female's Friends (We'll call them The Peanut Gallery).
I have no problem with the leading female (let's call her Sally).

Nut shelling it:
Ed and Sally go to school together. One weekend, Ed sent Sally a text asking her if she would go out with him? Sally doesn't want to go out with Ed, but she didn't know what to do so she went to talk to The Peanut Gallery. They told her she should totally do it. Sally thought about it, and thought about it. She then sent a message to... to... uhm...
...
It's the Leading Ladies cousin, but we'll call her... Elsa. Yeah, Elsa...
Ehem
...
She then sent a message to Elsa who lived miles and miles away but had helped Sally's sister before her. She told her everything. She told her about Ed, how she felt, what The Peanut Gallery said and that she was really confused.
Elsa broke it down really quick (we're super shelling this part)
"Do you want to date him or not?"
"No."
"Why are you confused then?"
"Well, The Peanut Gallery said I should and I hate it when people don't like me or are mad at me. I want people to like me."
"There will always be people who don't like you, no way to change it. As long as you stay who you are, accept your mistakes, say your apologies and move on then it doesn't really matter."... ..."Honesty matters."...
Sally got really quiet.
"So why don't you want to date him anyway?"
"He's not a cutest guy or the smartest... And he always does what everyone else tells him to do."
"Reasons 1 and 2... Stupid reasons to not date someone. Reason 3 however is the perfect reason not to. it shows that he has no spine... actually, it shows that he has no testicles."
"What?"
"Testicles... have you taken health yet?"
"No"
"(Explains testicles and maturing... blah blah blah)"
"OH! (starts laughing really hard)"
They completed the conversation... Elsa stopped for a minute after they ended it... She asked, "So when Ed asked you out, did you tell him you had to think about it or what?" Sally explained that she didn't tell him anything yet. Elsa got silent, "So the kid asked you out and you just walked away?!"Sally then informed her that Ed asked her out via text message...
"WHAT!?!"
"THIS PROVES IT!!! NO BALLS!!! NONE!!!"

Sally has decided that she doesn't want to date Ed, not only because of his lack of spine, but because she's not ready for a relationship yet.
She took Elsa's words to heart... "If you had the cash to buy a Ferrari out right, but The Peanut Gallery told you to get a Mercedes Benz, what would you do?"
"Ferrari."
"But you don't want The Peanut Gallery to be mad at you do you?"
"F.E.R.R.A.R.I."
"Very good, my young padawan. Very good." "So maybe this kid is a Mercedes, maybe this kid is a Ferrari... If the second, he's still in the factory." "Do you want a Mercedes/unfinished Ferrari or a finished Ferrari?"
"FERRARI!"
"Good"

Ed:
GROW A PAIR AND ASK HER OUT IN PERSON!!! Hint, Sally isn't going to respond to your text. She's hoping you'll forget you sent it.

The Peanut Gallery:
Pull your heads out of your asses and listen to your friends when they day, "I Don't Want To." DON'T MAKE THEM DO THINGS THEY DON'T WANT TO DO!

Sally:
Don't let your friends dictate your life. Let your brain/heart do it. Never settle for less than you deserve.

It's mine... No it's not, it's yours now... MINE!!!

Situation... THESE PEOPLE ANNOY ME!!!

A guy moved away for a while because of work. He couldn't take his pet so he left him with a friend. Told the friend that they were gonna have to keep the dog. Then he came back and acted like he loved the dog and wanted him again, then he disappeared again. He talked like the dog belonged to the friend. Then he moved in. The dog fell in love with the friend's other roommate and the roommate loved the dog. All of the sudden the guy acted like he loved the dog and missed him so much and all that again. WHAT THE HELL!?!

MAKE UP YOU'RE DAMN MIND!!! Are you leaving the dog with the friend and making it theirs? Or are you leaving it with the friend in the hopes of getting it back?

MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!! Oh ps, the dog is the roommates now. You can't have him back. You treated him like crap and can't make up your mind. He's not yours anymore.

TAKE THAT!!!!!!!!
